Play Don't Eat the Cashier Online — All 9 Endings & Routes Guide
Content note: This is a comedy first, but the developer flags dark and adult themes and publishes a full content warning list separately. Recommended for mature players.
Don't eat the cashier! is a monster dating sim about the worst night shift imaginable. You have just landed a minimum-wage job at a gas station, and your customers tonight are not human. Made by Miloff and AveDementia for the Spooktober 7th Annual Visual Novel Jam and released on October 1, 2025, it has become one of the most-rated games in its genre — 4.9/5 from nearly 4,900 ratings on itch.io — with 9 endings and four love interests. You can play it online free here in your browser.
The Premise
The developer's own pitch is hard to improve on: congratulations, you have landed a night shift at a gas station for minimum wage — spooky enough already — but your customers tonight are not exactly human. You serve coffee to chatty monsters and charming madmen, and the job title is also the survival instruction.
The tone is the whole trick. This is a comedy dating sim that happens to be populated by things that could eat you, and the writing plays both halves straight. The monsters are genuinely funny and genuinely dangerous, and the game is at its best in the moments where you are not sure which one is about to happen.
The Love Interests
There are four: three completely different monsters, and the station manager — who, per the developer, is every bit as charming as the customers. The developer has confirmed a friendly werewolf is among the night's regulars. The cast players talk about most are Viktor, Deiran, David, Eddie, and Bob.
The developers have deliberately kept detailed species and route descriptions off the store page, and different fan guides contradict each other about who is what. Rather than pick a version, the honest recommendation is to walk in blind: the reveals are part of the fun, and the game is short enough that discovering each character yourself costs you very little.
How the Game Works
- Every choice matters, and they notice everything. The developer's framing is that the characters react to what you say and do. You can soothe, deflect, tease, provoke, or play along, and each of those shifts both the immediate scene and the relationship underneath it.
- 9 endings. Branching depends on which customer you lean toward and how you handle them.
- Customizable protagonist. You choose your pronouns and your body type independently — the body type is not locked to the pronoun choice. (Pronoun customization is in the English version.)
- Four languages: English, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Brazilian Portuguese, with translations by Catrish, copiklaGrogu, Nike, and Alex.
- Original art and a custom soundtrack. Code, art, and story by Miloff, with art and story by AveDementia. No generative AI was used.
Getting All 9 Endings
No official route map has been published, and the game is short enough that you do not need one. What works:
- Commit to one customer per run. Spreading attention across everyone is the reliable way to land in the least interesting ending.
- Save at the first real choice with each character. Ren'Py's save slots let you branch one shift into several endings without replaying the opening.
- Try being rude. Some of the funniest and darkest outcomes come from provoking the wrong customer. The title is a warning, not a rule.
- Do not skip the manager. He is a full route, not a side character, and players consistently rate his content among the best.

Conclusion
Don't eat the cashier! is the rare jam game that outgrew its jam. Nearly five thousand ratings at 4.9 is not a niche-community result — it is the kind of number that means people who do not normally play dating sims played this one. It is brief, funny, a little dangerous, and generous with its cast.
The coffee is on. The customers are coming. Try not to get eaten.
